We went to a funeral home this afternoon and looked at "plots", or places where our Dad could be buried.

By the way, when you pick a spot, know that they sell them in pairs, for when the spouse/partner passes.

We tried to pick a spot with a nice view, that wasn't too close to the road, and had a water feature - by request of our grandmother.

I guess you can't call them a "sales person", but that's essentially what the coordinator's job was. To sell us a plot of land. They range anywhere from $7,000 up and over $35,000 a spot, and remember, you have to buy them in a set. And this is Texas land we're talking about.

This is not something I expected to do 24 hours prior.

I realize that our dad was not the first person to die unexpectedly. That there are many accidents and events that happen in the world that would result in sudden deaths that would be of surprise to the family. And yet still it was so mind numbing to think of all the things that had to be decided once someone died.

You know those video's they have on Instagram and Youtube with "10 things to ask your wedding venue"? They don't have that for funeral homes I guess. Or at least they're not very popular.

We have to go again this weekend to finalize more details for the funeral.

I would never have thought the first funeral I went to would be for my family.

But here we are.
