Do you remember God sightings?
Go all the way back. Mescalero 2010. Where we connected the randomest things back to God. Climbing rolypolies and God's grace. Different paintbrushes and God's individual gifts. Shout out to Erin and Jenny.
I haven't thought about them much since then.
But I had a God sighting last night.
I was looking for the superblood moon. I was much too lazy to go down four floors and go out the back door to look for it, so I stayed in my room, and tried to see it from my window. I wouldn't turn off the lights, but I'd pull the curtains around my face and peer straight ahead into the black overcast sky, searching for this scientific wonder.
But I couldn't find it, and eventually I gave up. Figured that the moon was obscured by my apartment building. Or too many clouds. Or that it had gone to the other side of the building.
When I went to bed, I turned out all my lights, and looked through the window again. And there, in the top right corner of my eye (not straight ahead), I see a bright white moon, barely shielded by the sun's eclipse and the clouds.
And I thought, wow, this is how we look for God sometimes. We don't want to give up too much to seek Him, so occasionally we'll "turn off" the world and turn to him, but just oh so very briefly.
And we can't find Him. Or, we assume He's not there. So we go back to our lives, with little care or remorse. But think of what we're missing! What a life it is with Him!
It isn't until we shut everything out, or He takes all our other idols from us, that we'll see Him. That we'll appreciate Him. That we'll stand in awe and wonder and think, wow I missed something really awesome. If only I stopped and looked for a little while longer.
Philippians 3:7-9
It's not a perfect analogy, just a God sighting I wanted to share :)
Seeking to see the Lord in and through everything.
And no. Because of my stubbornness and laziness, I do not have a nice picture of the moon. But to break up all the text on my blog, here are the beautiful clouds from my window this morning!
