and still as beautiful as ever.
I don't have too much to say for today. I visited a different church today - Redeemer - at the request of the guys in Navs. It was a really great church and I actually got a lot from the message. How do you choose a church?! They all seem good, similarly different and the same, but all good! GAHH. And, is it weird if like nearly everyone in the Navs went to that church? That was a bit off for me, I wasn't sure if it was weird that they were all there.
So the passage today was Ephesians 4:17-32.
Since I've already been blabbing so much, I'll keep this short. Verses 26-27 say "In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."
The pastor went off of that, saying how anger in itself is not a sin, and how God gets angry too - (like when Jesus had that whole throwdown in the temple where they were selling goods and such), we just need to be slow to anger. But the other part of that is - what are we getting angry for? What is the motive for our anger? Because God is angry with things having to do with sin, for example, when the Israelites turned away, because He hates sin. But what is my motive for anger? Why do I get angry? Is it for selfish motive/desire? The guy who cuts you off in traffic, the annoying things some people do (or my roommate...). I always get angry because of selfish things. Because someone is doing something that is upsetting or bothering what I want. But is that really a reason why I should be getting annoyed or mad? The sins we have committed against God are worse than anything anyone else could ever do to us. And yet He still forgave us. He went beyond rescuing us from our sin and hell. He supports us, He loves us still, and provides in incredible ways.
"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." Ephesians 2:6SO I am on a mission to be slooowwww to anger.
The drive back to campus.
THE END.
