Spring came in April.
It was like someone turned the knob and we moved from winter to spring. It didn't matter that we barely had a winter. The sun came out, the trees were budding leaves, and the weather was warm.
Well today, the weather was not warm.
But first the grass turned green, maybe late March time. Then the trees. The flowers bloomed before the leaves came.
First the magnolias - star and pink magnolias. Along with a bounty of tulips and daffodils.
Then the cherry blossoms - the yoshinos.
Then the kwanzans, the red buds, and the pink and white dogwoods.
A magical explosion of bright white, soft and rich pinks, yellows, and magentas.
Actually the hellebores bloomed in the winter. In dark, mysterious, shades of burgundy and plum.
I think people prefer fall to spring, because fall has remnants of summer, and spring has remnants of winter. The latter of which is much less preferred.
But I think spring has been quite lovely, even with the cold.
