a shorter list of notes for the remaining two years of undergraduate-ness.
- Try more restaurants. You only have 2 more years left here and you've spent way too much time in the dining halls eating really bad food.
- Explore the city. Explore the quarries and go out to the lakes and go see Chicago again. You're losing time.
- Go see shows. Note number two. Maybe you'll have actual money to pay for shows in the future, but you won't have the cool people you have here to see them with, or the time to do so so freely.
- Go see more athletic events. You are so lame and really need to get out.
- It's been 2 years and you still have not used your money's worth of the school's recreation centers.
- You're probably not going to go on a date while you're in college so you might as well visit the observatory, the museum, and all the other galleries by yourself while you're here.
- Meeting new people outside your Asian American and/or Christian bubble is....really different, but really good.
- Making new friends in general is fun :)
- Making friends and building relationships is often easier than you might think. All you gotta do is reach out.
- Getting involved in things you're passionate about. It makes it the time commitments more than worth while.
- Sometimes people will think you're crazy for devoting so much of yourself to something. But you know what, God gave you the really crazy talent of working way too hard and not stopping for anything so keep going and use it to do great things for His glory.
- Don't take too many naps it makes you addicted to sleep. That makes you weak.
- Coffee coffee coffee coffee, but never after 2PM.
- Breakfast is good. A giant apple or cereal works for at most 2.5 hours before you're hungry again.
- I don't like sandwiches.
- Stay on the safe side: it's probably colder than you think, and even if it's just sprinkling/drizzling/whatever Indiana skies call raining, you should wear rain boots.
- Take more pictures in the fall and spring. Take out Carlos and take pictures. They don't have colors like these in Texas.
- Try not to lose so many winter accessories next year, really. It's embarrassing how quickly you lose such nice, new, winter apparel...
- Search and apply for internships earlier. Make your list and check it twice.
- The time zone difference is really confusing. Check three times.
- You work really well in the morning. If you're up past 2AM then you should go to bed. Now.
- Praise the Lord I am done with accounting. Sprinkle you're wonderful and Max well, you know, but I am so glad I never have to do any of that again. And I hope there's nothing else I'm as bad at as accounting. That would be really unfortunate.
- Dance classes are SO much fun. I'd forgotten how much I loved to dance.
- 8 hours of sleep is magical.
- This year I learned what a darty was.
- Having your best friend as your roommate is pretty awesome.
- Be nice.
- Compliments are free and yet highly valued. If you have one, share it!
- "Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction. Break the habit. Talk about your joys."-- Rita Schiano
- Good job Stephanie! 126 days since you've been home. That's 18 weeks, or 4.5 months. To stave off homesickness: make friends, get involved, eat out at Chinese restaurants, depend on God, and call home.
- It's fun to just snapchat your siblings all the time. They can't judge you for your 'cool stories'.
- If you have a problem with something, address it quickly. Don't let yourself fume or build up resentment. It doesn't help anyone.
- Remember your parents love you and they want what's best for you. Even when it's really difficult to see.
- Don't ever forget the joy of your salvation in Christ.
- God is good. ALL the time.
final sophomore day #272
Stephanie! My checklist is to go to the Rooftop Quarry, one basketball game, one football game, operas and the fall ballet, canoe in Griffy Lake, McCormick's Creek, and exercise at least once a week! Come join me :D
