freshman day #241

Oh how He loves us.

Today I attended an interesting Good Friday service.
It was very traditional in nature. I didn't get much out of the service itself.
But during the moments of meditation I had this one realization.

Look at what Christ has done for us. Can you imagine the pain, the loneliness, the sadness he felt? Loneliness, is something we all suffer, and I forget that he did too. And beyond anything I'll have to encounter.
"Loneliness does not come from having no people around you, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you."
And how could anyone have known how he felt?! To have to bear the weight of the whole world's sins on your back? To feel as if everyone you know has left you? His disciples were falling asleep, disowning him. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

I thought wow, how Jesus loves us!
I thought, that's become such an overused phrase; "Jesus loves you."
But how remarkably true and honest and genuine that is!!
We should be running through the streets shouting, "Jesus loves you!" Because by golly, he DOES! He did that for US! Bore that pain and suffering.
So that we might be saved! So that "the curtain of the temple [might be] torn in two from top to bottom." That we might be with Him.
Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:4-6
 How great the Father's love for us.
