*Posting note: I discovered this in my drafts box in September 2021! Can you believe how the year is already gone...
----------------------------------------------------
In the last six months, I lost my job, had our (2nd) wedding, decided to take the GRE, took the GRE, and came to exactly 1 conclusion about my future career plans. That I don't know what to do.
2020 is not the year anyone thought it would be (or maybe some scientists/virologists knew). But I am thankful for God's opening and closing of doors, for a healthy family and a home, and for Isaac, who has been by me through many a panicked nervous breakdown. I hope I'll look back on this year and remember to be more grateful for everything I have, to act for better for the people in our communities and country, and to know that though nothing is certain, we have a Savior who is.
Resolutions
- Sacrificing the "best" of my time to the Lord
- Respecting and perceiving myself as an adult - not as someone who looks 15 but happens to have graduated college
- Enjoy God - recognize that happiness and pleasure come from glorifying Him
Memorable Moments
- Lynn's bachelorette! And a wild night at the piano bar.
- Siblings and in-laws hangout in the one and only Waco, TX. Drinking beer and shooting cornhole in chilly March.
- You know, COVID. Telling small group on Wednesday, March 11th that if Italy shut down, it was going to happen here too. (The NBA cancelled their season and the US blocked travel to Europe/China that day.)
- Getting married (twice!)
- Our 'Love' wedding cake and haphazard tea ceremony in the living room.
- Learning Mahjong and winning the first 3 games (1st)
- Coming home from work and Isaac cooking dinner...at first.
- Saturday morning Seiwa "dates"
- Central Market coupon adventures
- Flower frenzies for the wedding
- The wonderful September weather for our wedding
- Exploring Colorado! (1st) and hiking till our knees gave way. (Yellow trees! Mountains!)
- Microwave meals and delicious DIY sandwiches while traveling
- Chess games with the family after binging the Queen's Gambit

Something crazy
- COVID?
- I lost my job (almost exactly) 3 years after starting
Thing's I've learned
- I can cook! More than stir fry!
- I like to read! Completed 4 books this year for the first time since...high school required reading.
- I like to work...and don't quite know what to do otherwise.
Thing's I'm looking forward to
Can you even answer this question after this year??
I'm looking forward to travel, to seeing people and hanging out, having dinners and having parties and potlucks, going out and to church and to people's homes!
And looking forward to a job and side hustling some flowers.
