"It's wrong to expect people to act like Jesus if they don't know Him."

why do Christians act the way they do? Why do we try to follow the law, set aside sex for marriage, avoid drunkenness, love others unconditionally, use edifying language...........
Because we know Jesus. Because we want to glorify Him. Because we love Him. Because we know He loves us. We lay our wants and desires at the foot of the cross;  

"He must become greater; I must become less." John 3:30

You can't hold other people to that standard, you can't expect that, from people who don't know Jesus.

"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin." Romans 3:20

We recognize sin, because we recognize God's law.

But we are told still to love them, to share Jesus with them, to show how great it is to have Jesus as our reason. Our reason not only to "follow all these rules" but to hope, to have peace, to have joy in our lives. And what a great reason He is.

John 4:42, Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman
..."They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
